My daughter retained this company to move her from Philadelphia to Boston. The move has turned into an epic battle to get information and her furniture. The company: 1. Increased their price without any real rationale except that they had a young woman and first time mover to deal with; 2. Repeatedly filed to return phone calls; 3. When contacted they attempted to just placate you without committing to delivery dates. This has turned into an extraordinary unsatisfactory experience. I would caution anyone considering using them to reconsider

DO NOT retain the services of these guys. They leave you with open ended quotes and will not commit to anything. One of the scam moving companies that rip you off. Feel free to contact me for further details of the scam
Stay away from Special Moving

I didn't know much about moving companies and applied online at a site that gave listings of moving companies that had insurance and accredited for long distance move. Special Moving's sales rep hounded me and kept calling and telling me that the price he was giving me was a guaranteed price and not based on weight like the other movers, and there would not be additional charges if I had some items not listed. They had me down at 30 boxes. The sales rep should have been able to help me estimate what was in my house, other movers do. He also told me that there would not be any extra charges for going to a storage facility and an my home and that I could pay half my credit card and the other half in cash when they dropped off my things. Then they came in and saw I had 70 extra boxes and the price for the move more than doubled. After stopping the movers and several screaming matches they lowered the amount. They they showed me the contract for the first time and took a credit card for half the amount and then I got the list of extra charges that was never told to me until my things were on the truck.They waited 2 days to call me and knew I was on the road driving to my new city and said that they couldn't accept the credit card it was a mistake even though they took the deposit on one and told me I had to wire them half the money or my things would never make it on the truck until I did. told them I didn't have half the cash that is why I went with them, they were rude to me and told me I shouldn't be moving if I couldn't afford a moving company and they hung up the phone on me. I had to have a friend's father in NY hand them over a check for half the amount so I could get my stuff. They did deliver the items on time and we worked out a price for going up 3 flights of stairs. They have only been in business for 3 years and are completely shady.
