WORST MOVE EVER!!!!!
Mover reviewed by H L on 06/20/11
RUN RUN RUN-- don't walk from these people-run like your possessions and money depended on it, because they do! The only reason they get any stars is that the original crew who loaded me were really good (thanks John), but that was the only good thing. I got my original quote from Neighbors Moving & Storage. It was for $2108. It took almost 3 weeks for them to deliver my things and the cost skyrocketed to $4847. They charged $100 a roll for shrink wrap and charged me for a mattress cover. There was NO mattress cover on the mattress. They charged me $350 to move the piano and the day of the move the moving crew asked for $400 for "piano moving." When I showed them the receipt where I paid $350 for the move they didn't say anything else about the money, but told me that they needed more men to get the piano upstairs and another crew would be here in a couple of hours. Big shock, no one ever showed up. My piano is still sitting in the downstairs hallway and Tracie at Able said that because I refused to pay for the piano moving they would not do anything further for me. They showed up to deliver at 7 pm and finally quit for the night after 1 am. They said they'd be back in the AM to complete the move. They were supposed to be here at 7 am, and I could see them sitting in their truck from my apartment window. When I called them after 8 am to see when they were coming up I was told they'd just woken up. Why lie about something so petty? They broke and/or damaged several items, some irreplaceable, SCREAMED at me when I pointed it out and the company is not willing to do anything about the damaged items. They invited me to complain to whoever I wanted and have no interest in resolving the situation. They do not answer phone calls, and promise things that they do not deliver. They provided me with the WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE of my life and it's not done yet.
GREAT MOVERS. EXCELLENT SERVICE

Fast, efficient, and friendly. They even helped me set up my Ikea bed thats a total pain to do. True, I had to flip the screws in the right direction after they left, but I could have exercised more oversight in that process while it was happening. They also put additional padding around items like my mirror, which I had not padded myself. And the final cost was far below the quoted estimate I received. I cant beleive my bill actually went down in price! I would recommend Able Moving to anyone planning to move in the Chicago area or out of state like I did. I did not have to lift a finger and the price was reasonable and they packed my whole house up within 2 days. The delivery was one day passed the window, but I didnt sweat it.
Avoid Able Moving! They're dishonest and despicable.

This company is so atrocious that they earned a D rating from the BBB. I wish I had known that before we hired American Van Lines, who uses Able Moving as a sub-contractor. They were late picking up, claimed bogus overage fees, tried to charge us twice the estimated price (despite us giving them LESS than originally estimated), gave us 2 hours notice for deliver, and then put our possessions in storage when we wouldn't pay the inflated price on the spot. 18 days later, our belongings are still in storage and they will not redeliver. Do yourself a huge favor and avoid Able Moving and American Van Lines!

Able Movers are a terrible moving company. They randomly charged us for materials and were unable to provide us with a price list that day when questions came up. They were inefficient and badly damaged a leather sofa. The men knew they had damaged the sofa and I noted it on the form I signed before they left. However, the company has refused to pay for the repair as they said I needed to take pictures of the damage before it was fixed. I was not told that on the moving day or by their office when I called about the damage. They did tell me the most they would ever pay anyway was $30 as they only pay 30 cents per pound for damage, irregardless of value!
GREAT MOVERS. NUFF SAID!!!

The Worst Moving Company Ever

My experience with Able began May 29th, when they arrived at my apartment for my move five hours late. Originally, my mover said he might have to add some boxes to my estimate, which would be an additional few hundred dollars, but no more than that. His name was Eric Terman. He's about 300 pounds. He went downstairs and when he came back up, the estimate jumped to $3900. There's too much to say. In the end they charged us $2850. Also, they wouldn't let us pay with a credit card like our broker promised us. These people overcharged us for things already in the estimate, charged us for things like a storage facility, parking ticket, and walking fees, and still haven't sent us a receipt. They have not answered their phones since we paid them. They are the WORST moving company that exists, and I would like to put them out of business. If you ever hear of someone wanting to use Able Moving, tell them not to. This is a terrible company, with terrible customer service. They will break your stuff, and charge you extra for it. I had 3800 words written, but this site wouldn't let me put it all in. For more info, email me at nicole.naghi@gmail.com.
