Pete and the crew were fantastic. They made sure that our furniture and boxes were protected at all times. During the move, the movers left no mark on our wooden floors nor did they damage any furniture. The team was incredibly professional and did AN AMAZING JOB! I will definitely use this company again for my next move!

I am very pleased with my experience with General Moving Carriers. My estimate and ending payment was exactly where they said it would be. The foreman was extremely helpful and polite and the other two man were very courteous. Surprisingly, the three man smiled the entire time ! They were on time and moved quickly and took care of all my possessions as if they were their own. I will definitely use this company again in the future thanks to their amazing service and great workers.

The move went great. Even though it was stressful for me, the movers helped it go smoother. I learned a lot on how to pack my items more efficiently and how to get a better estimate for my next move (hopefully, that won’t happen soon). The movers were very polite and stayed on task. All the men General Moving Carriers sent to move us in were fantastic! I have the world’s heaviest kitchen table and they worked so hard to get it into my house. All of the workers were polite, respectful and great workers. They cleaned up after themselves and when I made them move things around the house they did it with a smile. My belongings were in storage for 3 months and they all came back to me in great condition. GMC's staff should be rewarded for their hard work.

These guys really changed my perception of movers! I had very bad experiences with movers in the past, but I basically had no choice but to hire movers again. I'm disabled and live alone and I have a lot of delicate things that are very precious to me so I had to put myself in the water again. These guys really made me forget those bad memories. The estimator Gil told me all the costs up-front so I could know what to expect. The service was prompt and courteous and very efficient and competent. I even paid way less than Gil had estimated me. So for the first time in 23 years since I started using movers, I can actually say I'm very pleased with my move.

Moving from N.J to Florida (Nightmare)

The salesman was very professional and gave us a reasonable quote. The day of the move the forman tried to charge us for extra items (79) he said were not on the original list. When I questioned him he could only account for one. Tried to charge us for extra boxes and packaging material. The Foreman said our furniture would arrive in Florida with in 14 days. When the furniture did not arrive on time three days later than the fourteen days tried to tell us the forman never said that. Also, the foreman the day of the move said we were suppose to give 10% to 15% tip on top of the fee. They were very unprofessional when they finally delivered our furniture. The movers told me they were hired for the day and had no moving experience. They saw the add on craigslist for one day movers. The foreman was, also, very unprofessional. When I showed him that his men broke an expensive dresser, he just said it was cheaply made. Would not recommend them at alll. Next time I move I will use a major carriers.
HORRIBLE MOVING EXPERIENCE

i moved from NJ to NY last month and used General Moving Carriers. the sales reps on the phone are a sweet as pie when ur are getting an estimate. beaware they will estimate as low as possible to then hit you with a huge bill upon arriving at your destination. First of all the movers were late-my move was initally scheduled for 9am when i booked the move 3 week prior. i was then advised on the day prior to my move that the only time they had available was from 2pm to 5pm, but was assured it would be closer to 2pm (i reiterated that it would have to be closer to 2pm considering that my move would take place on a friday). to make the long story short the movers arrived at 4:15pm. at that point i had paked most of my belongings and had boxes and storage bins stacked in the hallway in front of my apartment. the movers tried to have me purchase as much of their supplies which was over priced (tape $3/boxes $15), be aware they will try to have ou use their supplies to overcharge, also watch the movers because because they will half stock the boxes to have you pay for more boxes. it a shame. the real shame was that i was initially estimate a price of around 600 and ended up paying close to 900 because of traffic time and uneccessary supplies. the move took 6 hours which would have taken 4 hrs if it had been done in the morning which was my initial request. i am extremely dissapointed with this company, i had to dispute with upper management (which i strongly suggest if u are dissatified with their services) and eventually got reimbursed a half hr which was about $50, i know....do ur self a favor dont use this company its too much drama that you dont need especially as your in a moving transition which can be stressful enough.

I recently contracted General Moving Carriers located in maplewood, NJ to move our belongings to Ann Arbor, MI. I must tell you that from the first time I contacted them, their personell were friendly, professional and courteous. The estimator, Guy, was clear, concise and very accurate with his cost evaluation of our move. Lastly, the men that arrived to complete the move were punctual, prim, proper and well mannored. All in all, I could not have dreamed that this move would have been so quick and easy. I would highly recommend this company to anyone that needs to move near or far large or small. These guys are the best in the business.

I had the misfortune to choose this company when moving from New Jersey to to New York City. This is, by far, the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. Where do I start, here are just some of the issues that I have with this business: 1.) They charge INSANE amounts for moving supplies, such as tape, boxes, etc. Luckily, I packed my stuff beforehand. 2) They broke Items during the move. 3) The workers began to slow down in the middle of the move making it as long (and costly) as possible 4) The drivers of the truck got a parking ticket AND BILLED ME FOR THE COST!!! If your thinking of using this company, don't. Do yourself a favor, and pick another moving company.

Me and my family had a last minute move due to a quick sell.I have called around and no one could accommodate my needs due to the fact that i needed a full service move from Jersey to CA for a 4 br. house with a 3 day notice. From the 1st phone call that i have placed to "General" i felt that I was in good hands they were polite, honest with the estimate and great with the way they have packed and protected my goods for the long haul. They have arrived in CA after 5 days which was faster than estimated , and were very accommodating with our time scadual . I have moved 8 times in my life time and have never experienced such a great move , Down to the last detail General Moving was awesome. I Thank you , Sincerely, M.Kaufman.
Awful and Horrendous

Extremely unprofessional company, Liars and cheaters. The salesman will lie when giving an estimate. The estimates means nothing when these people come for packing. Keep an eye on them while they pack, they will try to put one item per box in order to gather more $$. Most of the items were damaged and lamps / bulbs missing. How are these people allowed to conduct business is beyond my understanding. I will be launching a compliant with the office of NJ Attorney Journal. Please, do yourselves a favor and dont use General moving careers.

I hired Intlmove in Miami FL which uses General Moving Carrier to handle their moves in the NJ and NY metro area. They were to pack part of my one bedroom apartment in Union Square and then begin the shipping process to Tokyo. I was told that they had to pack my things, which I had to pay for in order for their insurance to cover the shipment. Firstly, they were quite difficult to deal with prior to the move. Since I was in Tokyo, I had gone to NY to put eveything in one place in the apt so that they could package it. When the shipment got to my new home in Tokyo nearly everything was destroyed--furniture, grandmother's china, crystal, dinning room furniture, glasses, other dishes, family heirlooms etc.. The Japan delivery company said they had never seen such poor unprofessional packing. They took over 50 pictures of damaged items. When I compained Intlmove contacted General Moving Carrier who said it was my fault because I packaged everything. I am happy to supply anyone with the pictures of the damage.

I helped my Grandma move out of her apartment into an assisted living care community, so this move was hard enough to begin with... I am so grateful that the moving company I went with was General Moving Carriers. The fine men they sent were so kind and polite, taking great care to wrap all my Grandma's fragile/glass items, as well as all the furniture. I have never before seen such careful moving men. This is definitely a first class moving service! Another thing I would like to mention is that all the other moving companies I talked with over the phone gave me lower estimates, but I still went with General Moving Carriers because they were recommended to me from a friend of mine that also used them. I asked them why their price was higher and they explained that they factor in everything right from the beginning and tell you upfront what the final cost will be, while some other moving companies will give you a low price over the phone to get you to book with them, and then add other costs onto the price on the day of the move. I'm happy that I listened to them. The total cost of my move totaled just about what the estimate had predicted! Thanks, General Movers, for being honest from the beginning about everything! :)

I have used other movers before, but never such a great group of gentlemen who behaved so very professionally and did the job in such a short time. Furthermore, they let me know what was going on every step of the way. I would never use a different moving company other then General moving. The movers were absolutly awesome. I also would recommend these movers to every person in need of a great company.

General moving carriers was definitely the best moving company we have ever dealt with. my husband and i were very pleased with the respect shown by the movers to us and our children. Our belongings were carefully wrapped with moving blankets before being moved and we appreciated that greatly for we have some very old and sentimental pieces that have been in our family for years that would have been impossible to replace if anything happened to them. I was impressed by the professionalism they showed and the honest estimate we were given. (the actual final price was even a little lower than the original estimate was!) This is a first class moving company if I ever saw one. Definitely recommend.

Not only was the company quite unprofessional, they were unable to provide the services that they promised. Unable to locate our items after they had been collected, the company bullied us into not feeling comfortable enough to call and ask about our items (though we were told to call following our pick-up). Our items arrived quite damaged, and the company argued with us (became quite angry) when inquiring about a claim. Our boxes were generally thrashed, and our furniture had chips, etc. We hope that our family's comment can help depict our disappointment, so that other families do not suffer the same frustration and anxiety.

We were incredibly disappointed with the company. Boxes were crushed, furniture was damaged, and no one could give us any information on our stuff after it was picked up. We were charged unexpected fees upon delivery, and were bullied when inquiring about an insurance claim. From an honest consumer, please do not move with this carrier.
